I Jacob McLENDON of State and District aforesaid, Being in some
degree in
feeble health of body, But of perfect Mind and Memory. Blessed be God for
the Same. And Caling to
Mind the Mortality of My body. And
knowing it is
appointed unto all Men Once to die, do Make and ordain this. My last Will
and Testament. principall
And first of all. I Resign My Soul to
God. who
gave it, and My worldly Estate with which it has pleased him to
bless me, I
give and bequeath inthe following manner, And first
1st I Will. and bequeath
to my beloved Daughter E. Jane COLE a negro Girl
named, Betsey, now in her possession -
2nd I Will and bequeath to
My beloved Daughter Susannah D. MIMS a negro
Girl named, Betsey, now in her possession.
3rd I Will and bequeath to
My beloved Daughter Mary E. MCDONALD a negro Boy
named, Albert, now in her possession
4th I Will, and bequeath,
to my Beloved son James H. MCLENDON a negro Boy
named, Ely.
5th I Will and bequeath to
my beloved son Joseph C. MCLENDON a negro Boy
named Fed.
6th I Will and bequeath to
My beloved son Thomas L. MCLENDON a negro Man
named, Reubin, and his wife named Jenny, together with a Girl
named, Sarah,
and Beckey also a negro Boy named Bryant, Together with the
increase of said
negroes.
7th It is My Will and
desire That all my Lands be Equally divided Between
my Three sons, Harris, Joseph & Lewis. And that Lewis have his part whereon
My Buildings Stand.
8th It is My Will and
desire My son Harris have One Hundred & Fifty Dollars
in Money, My son Joseph One Hundred Dollars in Mondy, And My son
Lewis One
Hundred Dollars in money:
Also My daughter Jane COLE fifty Dollars.
9th It is My Will and
desire That after the payment of my Just and Lawful
debts Funeral expences &c That whatever else I may die possesed
of be
Equally divided between all My Children or Their Respective Heirs:
Furthermore I do hereby Constitute and appoint Alfred Scarborough,
Executor,
to this My last Will and Testament - Revoking and annuling all former wills
& Testaments, In Witness whereof, I have hereunto Affixed my
hand and seal
This Twenty fifth day of April in the year of our Lord One
Thousand Eight
Hundred and Fifty One, and in the Seventy Fifth year of American
Independence.
