Last Will And Testament Of ReddenMcCoy

In the Name of God, Amen.

 

I, Redden McCoy, being of perfect health, and ofsound and disposing Mind, Memory and understanding; do make this mylast will and testament, in form following.

 

In the first place, that all my just debts bepaid.

 

Secondly -- I give and bequeth unto my sevenchildren, Elisha McCoy, Mary Brunson, Sarah Clark, Celia Fort, JanePotts, Elijah McCoy, and Susan Andress; and my niece Isabella JanePringle, daughter of my deceased daughter, Frances Pringle; the wholeof my property, both Real, Personal and perishable, to be equallydivided among them, share and share alike. And should any of mychildren die, their children to receive their part and be equallydivided among such children.

 

Thirdly -- In the case that my niece, IsabellaJane Pringle, should die before she comes to the age of twenty-one,or, marries and haves no issue, then in that case, the part of myproperty and increases which she may be entitled to, shall return tomy Estate, and be equally divided among my children above named,share and share alike. And, should my niece, Isabella Jane Pringle,live to marry, the property is not to be at the disposal of her husband, or to be liable to any of his debts or contracts, and at herdeath, to go to her issue. She may leave otherwise to my children,as mentioned above. Also, I leave Elisha McCoy & William Potts,Guardian of Trustee, to take charge of the property that may be setapart for my said niece, Isabella Jane Pringle, and to carry thispart of my will intention.

 

Fourthly -- It is my wish that the property whichI may leave to my daughters above named, after their death, to go tothe issue of their body, and that the property shall not be subjectto any of those debts or contracts of their husbands, in any wise,whatsoever.

 

Fifthly -- I leave, nominate and appoint my sonElisha McCoy, and my son-in-law William Potts, Executors to this, mylast Will and Testament, and that the said Elisha McCoy &William Potts, as soon as convenient to be done, appoint fivedisinterested Freeholders, and have my property divided among my said children and niece within named, as directed within.

 

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my handand seal, this twenty-second day of September, in the year of ourLord, 1832. And in the Fifty-Seventh year of AmericanIndependence.
