Equity Court Records Sumter County Old S. C. Roll 103
In Equity James Corbett Guardian of John Stone V. James Stone Filed 6 May 1818.
James Corbett claimed since Eusebius Stone (Jr.) died, his two children John Stone and ____ Stone both infants of tender age, James Stone, Eusebius' brother, was made administrator. ____ Stone one of infants died 18-- and John Stone became entitled to all the property. Claims (James Corbett) has not paid for support of John Stone, has squandered the funds, not collected the money where personal property was sold. And requests an accounting of estate.
Answer by James Stone
Agrees John Stone infant son of Eusebius Stone and entitled to the estate. Wanted to be guardian of John and did not know James Corbett applied, that John Stone is a grandson of James Corbett and nephew of the defendant. Request repeal of guardianship and grant to defendant and dismiss the complaint. And Eusebius said just before dying asked James to be guardian of John and Son and if property went into hands of James Corbett would not do his children any good.
