In the name of God amen I. John Bowman, of thestate of South Carolina and of Sumter District being of infirm ofbody but of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be given tothy almighty and calling to mind that it is once appointed for allman to die do make and ordain this my last will and testamentImprimis. I commit my body to the earth to be buried in a decent andChristian like manner at the discretion of my Executors and my soulto Its Maker God

(Item) I will and request that all mu just data bepaid out of my Estate by my Executors to be here after named forwhich purpose I will that Clancey and her two small children Clareceyand Soloman; Jean and her two children Sarah and Susey with my stockof hogs and cattle with any part of or all of my land except onehundred acres to Mathew Bowman lying on peacse bay originally grantedto Mathew Bowman to be sold by my Executors to pay my debts

(Item) I will and bequeath to my belovedgranddaughters Elijah Bowman and Sarah Isabella H Bowman threenegroes Tom, Rheubin, Eli

(Item) I will and bequeath unto my beloved SonJohn A Bowman one hundred acres of Land lying on pearces bayoriginally granted to Mathew Bowman

(Item) I will and bequeath unto my beloveddaughter Martha Bowman two negroes Tom, the elder, and Antony andshould my daughter Martha Bowman die without Bodily issue then inthat case the property to return to the surviving heirs

(Item) I will that my two negroes York and Hesterbe kept and managed by my Executors to the beat advantage and theprofits arising from their labour to go to the support and benefit ofmy beloved daughter Sarah L Dinkins during her natural life andshould she die leaving children the property to go to said childrenwith the female increase should she die leaving no children theproperty to be Equally divided among my surviving heirs, shouldthere be a balance left after paying all my Just debts it is wishthat it shall be equally divided among my three children.

Lastly in order to carry this my Last will intoeffect I do nearby nominate my beloved Son John A Bowman and mynephew Samuel Neilson my Executors to this my last will and testamentmade this nineteenth day of September one thousand Eight hundred andtwenty three
