WILL OF FRANCES ANDERSON

Know all men by these presents, that I Frances Anderson of the State and District aforesaid, Being at this time in the enjoyment of my usual health, and of sound mind and memory, Blefsed be God for the same. Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.  Hereby revoking all other heretofore by me made. 

 

First and above all I commend my Soul to God who gave it, and Secondly It is my desire that as soon after my decease as practicable, all my just debts be paid, and as regards my worldly Estate.

 

I desire that it should be disposed of in the manner herein after mentioned (ie)  I give to my Daughter Sophronia Muldrow, Thirteen Silver Table Spoons, Marked P.W. one side Board, and her choice of one Bed and furniture.  The remainder of my silver plate (except as is hereinafter mentioned, I desire to be divided between my son Samuel McBride and my said daughter Sophronia Muldrow in the manner they may think proper.  I also give to my said Daughter Sophronia, a negro man named Flander, Negro woman named Jalina, and her three children, (ie) Sharper, Pheby and Sally, and her and their future increase. -

 

It is my will and desire that the above named thirteen Silver Spoons and the above named Negroes and their future increase shall be under the entire controls of my said Daughter to be subject to her disposition in any manner she may think proper. 

 

Second I give to my Son Samuel McBride, one Silver Ladle, and one pepper box, Marked P.W. and one Mahoggany stand.

 

Third I give to my Grand Daughter Henrietta Mayes one Bed and Furniture, and Four Hundred Dollars in Cash which four Hundred Dollars, has been paid over and duly receipted for by her Husband Matw. P. Mayes.

 

Fourth, I give to my grand Daughter Frances Moore Bethune, one Bed and furniture, and Six Silver Tea spoons, marked F.A. and also Four Hundred Dollars in cash, which said four Hundred Dollars, I desire may be paid over to my said grand Daughter Frances M. Bethune, as soon as my son Samuel McBride may find it convenient to do so, and take a receipt for the same in full for that portion of the Legacy above written.

 

Fifth I give to my Grand Son John G. Shaw, Four Hundred Dollars to be paid when he arrives of age, which said sum of Four Hundred dollars being now in hands of my son Samuel McBride, I desire may be kept at interest, if Practicable, until the time payment is hereby directed to be made.

 

Sixth I give to my Two Grand Daughters, Elizabeth, and Rebecca Shaw, each Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be paid to then when they arrive of age or marry the said sums I desire may be applied in the manner as is above directed in the case of my Grand Son John G. Shaw.

 

Seventh I give to my Son Samuel McBride, in addition to the Legacy above mentioned the sum of Two Hundred Dollars-

 

Eight.  I give to my Two grand daughters Henrietta Smith and Elizabeth McBride, each one Hundred dollars, to be paid over by my Son Samuel McBride as Soon as he may find it convenient to do so.

 

Ninth It is my will and desire that all the remainder of my furniture, and stock, shall be sold, and the proceeds thereof be Equally divided between the children of my deceased Daughter Rebecca Shaw.

 

Tenth.  In case of the death of John G. Shaw, or Elizabeth Shaw, or Rebecca Shaw, in their Minority it is will that the survivor or survivors of said three children, should receive the portion of the deceased. 

 

Lastly I hereby appoint my son Samuel McBride and  Matthew P. Mayes, Executors to this my Last Will and Testament, and it is further my will and desire that the said named Executors, do and execute the intention of this will in carrying it into effect, without application to the court of Law or Equity, Further than is necefsary so to do.  In witnefs whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 22d day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six and in the sixtieth year of American Independence.
