Sumter District--------- -) District aforesaid,being weak and frail of Body, but sound of mind and calling toremembrance the mortality of my body, do make and declare this mylast Will and Testament, as touching such worldly property as it haspleased God to bless me with----I give, Bequeath and Devise of thesame in manner and form following.----- ------

First, It is my Will request and Order that all myJust Debts be first of all duely paid and fullydischarged-----Then------------I give and Bequeath to my belovedDaughter Mary Wells Two Negroes by the name of Phillis and Zebulon toher and the Heirs of her body forever, provided, that there shall beno debts brought against me, or my Estate from the estate of JohnWells deceased, then and in that case, the aforesaid Negroes, Phillisand Zebulon, are to be valued & to pay said debt, :and theballance to go to my Daughter Mary Wells & her Heirsforever.

I lend to my beloved Son Joham Terry Two Negroesby the Name of Tom and Nancy during his natural life, and at hisDeath I give & bequeath the said Two Negroes, Tom & Nancy, tohis Son Matthew William Terry during his natural life, and providedhe the said Matthew William Terry hav lawfull Issue I give it forever, but otherwise, to return to my Estate & to be dividedamongst my heirs forever, share & share alike

I give and bequeath to my dear grandson JamesTerry&emdash;-Dukes, One Negroe boy by the name of Dave, to him &his Heirs forever, but should the said James Terry Dukes not live tohave lawtull Issue then the said negroe Dave to return to my Estateand be divided between my Heirs, share and share alike

I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter NancyMaples Three negroes by the name of Sarah, Isaac and Jemmy, to herand her Heirs forever--also, one bed stead, Bed & furniture, oneLarge Cupboard, and every thing else not herein named to the saidNancy Maples forever,

Also, I give to Mary Wells, One Bed & One Safeforever.

Also, I give to Mattw. William Terry, One Bed& furniture one trunk forever---

Also, I give to .James Terry Dukes, One BedStead,Bed and furniture One Slab one Truck &C, upon the samerestrictions as t have disposed of Dave to said James TerryDukes-------

It is my full meaning, & express will, thatall the future Increase of any or all of the above Negroes shall beincluded with their Mothers in the disposition of my property by thismy Will---

Lastly, I nominate and appoint my trusty friends,Mattw. James and John Gayle as Executors to this my last Will andTestament-And I authorize and empower my said Executors at my deceaseto Keep the whole of my Negros together, if it should be foundnecessary & hire them out untill all my debts are fully paid ,and then a Division made as above & within stated amongst myHeirs ----- as Witness my hand and Seal this Twenty fifth day ofAugust in the Year of our Lord One thousand, Eight hundred and twentytwo
