WILL OF ROBERT STAMPER

 

State of South Carolina

 

I Robert Stamper late of Middlesex County in theState of Virginia, now ofthe Village of Stateburg in the State ofSouth Carolina aforesaid, being sick and weak of body, but of a soundmind memory and understanding, Do make and publish this my last Willand Testament First I give and bequeath to Mifs Lucellus Purdewdaughter of Mrs. Lucy Powell of Edgefield District in this State, mythree negro slaves--named James, Ned, and Jane, (and her children ifany she has) and her future ifsue and increase, to her the saidLucellus Purdew, and her heirs and afsigns forever, which negroes arenow in the pofsefsion of my brother William Stamper of MecklenburgCounty in the State of Virginia--Secondly I give and bequeath to LucyPowell above mentioned, a certain black horse which I latelypurchased of Charles Lynch----

Thirdly I give and bequeath to the said LucyPowell and her daughter Lucellus Purdew all the obligations and otherpapers of consequence now in my pofsefsion---

Fourthly I give devise and bequeath to my NeicePolly Stamper, oldest daughter of my brother William Stamper ofMecklenburg County in the State of Virginia, a tract of landcontaining one hundred and ten acres, situate in Brunswick County inthe said State of Virginia which I purchased of one SamuelBagley---

Lastly I do hereby appoint my said brother WilliamStamper and Joseph Hightower Executors of this my last will andTestament, hereby revoking all wills hereto fore by me made andexecuted, and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament InWitnefs where of I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentyfirst day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eighthundred and three, and in the twenty seventh Year of the Independenceof the United States of America---
