WILL OF ELI SPARROW

In the name of God,Amen------------------------------

I, Eli Sparrow, of Sumter District and State ofSouth Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, and calling unto mindthe shortness of life and the certainty of death, do make this mylast will and testament.-------------------------

First, I commit my soul into the hands of theAlmighty God that gave it and my body to be buried in a decentChristian manner----------and as touching my worldly goods, etc., Imake the following disposition (Viz):

I give unto six of my children (Viz) Susan,Martha, John, Eliza, Suffrona and Abigail Sparrow all of my estate,my lands Negroes, horses, cattle, hogs, household and kitchenfurniture, and all other articles not mentioned (after paying my justdebts) to be equally divided between all the above named heirs eitherby partition or sale as may be thought best by my Executor and threeneighboring freeholders to be selected for that purpose, and

Lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my sonWilliam Sparrow Executor to this my last will and testament, revokingand disannulling all other wills or instruments as wills, as Ihereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of February in theyear of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight.
