In the Name of God, Amen. I Daniel Rose ofSumterville of the State of So. Car. a citizen of said State, & aMerchant Being sick & weak in body but of sound mind memory &understanding, for which I thank God - I do hereby make my will asfollows.
First. I desire that all by debts be paid--
Secondly. I give and bequeath unto my wifeElizabeth Rose, a feather bed, bedstead & furniture, my grayhorse, chair & harnefs, a negro Girl named Darky Her increase,also the sum of one thousand Dollars (& also one hundred Dollarsto purchase a chair & harnefs for her to be purchased as soon asconvenient) ---payable in two years after my death if my estate willthen permit, no interest before that time, the above in lieu of Dower& other claims. The above personal estate to be inventoried& appraised before delivered to her, which I direct to beimmediately done, her receipt to be taken therefor, she not to beaccountable for the same only in case of a deficienty to pay mydebts.------------------------
Thirdly. I recommend my old & blind ServantBilly to the care of my said wife, requesting her to take good careof him, and I do hereby direct that if the same be necefsary that myexecutor expend on his support & clothing twenty dollarsyearly.---------------------------
Fourthly. It is my will that my Child HenreittaElizabeth Rose remain with my wife until my executor shall thinkproper to send her to School, & that he do, pay her for thementenance of my Child while it remains with my said wife, if so muchbe necefsary the sum of one hundred Dollars per annum, besidesdoctors bills, It is my wish that my child do have such an educationas her capacity and property will permit of,------
Fifthly. Should Major John Singleton my wife'sfather die before her & I become in right of my wife entitled toany of his estate. I do hereby renounce & relinguish all claimthereto in favor of my wife -----
Sixthly. It is my will & desire that myexecutor do sell all my real estate, & all the rest of mypersonal estate not above mentioned---- On the following terms, thepersonal one year credit,taking Body & Security -- The real onthree years credit payable by equal annual installments, with --interest from Sale takeing from purchaser Bond & personalsecurity & a mortgage of the premises. That he do collect asfast as convenient the debts due me, & the proceeds of theproperty ordered to be sold, that out of the same the above legacy tomy wife is paid, all my debts, the annual allowance for my saidServant, & that my child be supported & educated as above,until She becomes of age or marries -- That all the rest &remainder of my estate after paying my debts, the legacy to wife& the sum fer the annual support of Billy. I give & bequeathunto my child Henrietta Elizabeth Rose, But should my child die underage, unmarried & without lawful ifsue, then in that case, It ismy will that the interest that be made after such event be paid to myaged & beloved mother if alive during her life, after her death,The estate herein given to my Child to be divided between my brothers& Sister, & the children of any now or then deceasedbrothers or Sister giving to such children the Share of their parentexcept my Sister Martha, to whom I only give & inted shall takehalf as much as my other brothers & Sisters as above.
Seventhly. It is my will that my executor do vestthe proceeds of the sale of my estate, debts received abovebequeathed to my child in Bank Stock, in the United States. Lastly -I nominate John B. Miller sole executor & Guardian also of mychild during his life, that is to say until my child become of age,should be live so long, then her estate to be given up to her for hersole & separate use but should be renounce his exectorship underthis my will, then I nominate Hugh Fraser, Robert Bradford, JohnAnderson, Thermas Mulledy executors hereof----------In witnefswhereof I have hereunto set set my hand & seal, this thirteenthday of July A.D. one thousand eight hundred and
