In the name of God Amen - I Joseph M. Pitts ofSumter District in the State of South Carolina do Constitute this tobe my last Will and Testament---

In the first place it is my Will and Desire thatall of my just Debts be paid out of the Estate I leave at myDeath---

Item-It is my Will and desire and I do herebydevise and bequeath to my wife Adelia Amanda Pitts all my propertyeither real or personal that I may die pofsefsed of or be entitledto, during her natural life and after her Death to be disposed of inthe manner hereinafter mentioned

Item-It is my Will and desire that after the deathof my said Wife Amanda Pitts that the negroes Maria, Dolly, andCharlotte and their future ifsue and increase shall be equallydivided between the Heirs of my said Wife and my Brother James MPitts, recommending to them that at the division an arrangement bemade by which the said negroes may not be separated---

Item-It is my Will and desire and I hereby deviseand bequeath to my Brother James M Pitts, after the death of my saidwife, my negroes, Miranda, Margaret, Prince, Amelia, Alimanda,Manning the older and Manning the younger, together with my realEstate and all other property I may be pofsefsed of or entitled to inmy own right, to him and his Heirs forever---

Item-It is my Will and desire that all of theproperty I may hereafter receive or be entitled to in right of mysaid wife shall go to her and her Heirs forever---

And I do hereby Constitute, nominate and appointmy wife Adelia Amanda Pitts and my Brother James M Pitts, Executrixand Executor of this my last will and Testament---

In witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand andseal this third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eighthundred and thirty five---
