Be it known unto Young and allothers whom it May concern, That I Philip Perry formerly a recidenteron Your plantation's, Near Charleston South Carolina, being extremelyindispos'd and awfully appuhensive That I Nevr shall recover from Mypresent, illness, and being in a perfect-state of Mind, do deem itprudent and highly Necessary to leave and Make a particular andcorrect arrangement of my affairs, Which I leave in the hands andtrust to the Management of My friend Mr John Dargan I do herebycertify that You are indebted to Me the Sum of Three hundred andfifty Dollars, for the last-Years services, render'd to You in thecapacity of an overseir Which sum You will please to pay to the aboveNam'd John Dargan or order, Also You will pay him all other Monieswhich May be due Me on a settlement-A true act, of which I trust toYour honor to render and pay for the benefit of My poor orphanchildren-I do further certify, That I have chosen and appointed andby the presents do chuse and appoint, the above Mentioned John DarganMy legal Executor to My Estate both personal, and perishalble, to beinvested with full authority to act as My power of attorney, toact-in all cases for Me, to receive all Monies for Me, to pay Mydebts, provided, there is a sufficiency remaining to give, and takereceipts in all cases as if I were present Myself- This My lastrequest respecting My worldly concerns-Given from under My hand thisSeventh day of January 1813----------
