In the name of God amen - I Jonathan Boykin of theState of Alabama, Mongtgomery County - being of Sound mind &memory, but weak in body and knowing that it is appointed unto allmen one to die do make this my last Will and testament - 1 - I,Command my Soul to god who gave it and my body to be buried in adecent Christian manner - and my worldly goods I, dispose of asfollows - (Viz) I. give unto John Dority one negro man named Anthony(now, in the pofsefsion of E.R. Morse of Alabama Montgomery Co) andall my bedding & furniture medicine chest and one hundred dollarsto pay all my burying expenses (the Bedding is in the pofsefsion ofWm. Mongomery of Ala Montgomery co) I give unto my Mother SarahBoykin the Hire of Anthony this year the amount being one hundreddollars - It is my will that my Exrs. collect all that is due me fromthe firm of Murphy & Brack and out of the Same I give unto myBrother John (of South Carolina) one hundred dollars, and also to myBrother Baswell (of Mifsifsippi) one hundred dollars, the residue ifany I. give unto John Doroty -
I give unto my Brother Drewry Boykin my watch mywearing apparrel my walking cane and all the money in hand (aftertakingout the hundred dollars for burying expenses as abovementioned) -
I give unto my Sister Sarah Jofsey all the moneydue me from Seaborn S. Westmoreland, Almond Freeman & Thos. MParker - lastly I nominate & fully constitute John Doroty &William Montgomery to Execute this my last will & testament Witnefs my hand & Seal this 25th day of May A.D. 1839 -
