least 1853 to the late 1870's. REBECCA MYERS was the wife's maiden
name. I believe she was a daughter of the FRED MYERS who owned the
FED(?) MYERS INN mentioned in History of Sumter County by Anne King
Gregorie. Does anyone know anymore about this inn or tavern or this

mid 1700s, and fought under Francis Marion in the Rev. War. I am
seeking info on Hugh, Andrew, David, and James Muldrow. I have info
on John and William. I am particularly looking for the fathere and
brothers of a SETH W. MULDREW who would have been born
@1800-1815 and moved to Marion County, GA in the late 1830s. He may
have had a brother, John, who moved to Miss. between 1830-1850s. I

DUBOSE-I'm looking for info on ELD.
JOHN S. DUBOSE. The following is written in an old family Bible
(Coleman), but I don't know how he may be connected to my family.
"Elder John S. DuBose died at his home, Oct 9, 1905 in the
seventienth year of his age from a complication of carbuncle on neck,
liver, and kidney trouble." My grandparents and ancestors lived in
Saluda and Edgefield, but I don't have the maiden name of my ggg
grandmother, Ella Coleman. I'm wondering is J.S. DuBose may have been
related to her, or perhaps was just a friend of the family. I know
the Bible went through a flood and a fire, but I don't know its
beginning county of origin. Any info you have (if any) would be
greatly appreciated.

Co. Census. Came from NC to SC and some appear to have gone to

LEE- I am trying to find information on
my gggrandfather, Simon Lee (believed to have been b. circa 1828 ) m.
Anne Lee. Anne Lee was b. 1830 in Sumter District and d. 17 Nov. 1899
in Florence Co., S.C. She was the daughter of David Harrison Lee and
Anna McAlister. The children of Simon and Anne Lee were Andrew
Jacson, William Jefferson, Robert E. Lewis, Laura Jane, and Evert
Egusta Lee. Simon Lee served in the CiviI War with Company I, 26th
Infantry along with other Lees from Williamsburg Co., S.C. I. would
very much like to find the name of Simons Lee's father and
grandfather and perhaps where he is buried. He died before 1880 anad
apparantly is not buried with his wife, Anne. Simon's father may have

BROUGHTON- My gr-gr-gr grandfather,
Nathaniel Broughton left Sumter District (Claremont and/or Clarendon
Co) in 1816 for Alabama. He lived in an area called Halfway Swamp. He
was married to a Sarah Benbow. His father was Edward or Edward
Nathaniel. His mother was Elizabeth Regan, daughter of William Regan.
His brother, John, had moved to Greene County, Ga. some years
earlier. Another brother, Edward, remained in Sumter, S.C. He arrived
in Monroe County, Alabama in Jan. or Feb. of 1817. (I still live in
Monroe County.) Any information would be appreciated.

CALWELL- THOMPSON-LENOIR-MCCANTS- are
the names that I am researching at the present time. I recently
confirmed that my family comes from James Caldwell of Sumter Co. I
believe he moved to Sumter from Clarendon Co. During my search for
the Lenoir/Caldwell problem, I discovered some McCants records in
Sumter. I believe my McCants were born in Darlington Dist. They were
John and David McCants born in the mid 1700s. John was married to
Mary James Thompson. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am happy to

JONES/RICHBURG- Searching for the
parents of Thomas W. Jones and the parents of his wives: Lorra E.
(Dolly) Richburg and Sarah A. Richburg. thomas appears in the 1850
Sumter Co. Census which is now Clarendon. In 1860 he is married to
Dolly, age 19 with daughter, Ellen. An 1866 deed names her as Lorra
E. Richburg. In 1870, he cannot be located after service ein the
Civil War, where he accompanied the body of his dead brother, James
W. Jones, home for burial. An 1876 deed shows his new wife, Sarah A.
Richburg. A lager deed shows this same Sarah deeding land of her
first husband, John be Gayman (son of James C. Gayman) and their son
Milton P. Gayman, to Thomas W. Jones, her new husband. I descend from
Thomas and Sarah's son, James R. "Jimmy;" Jones, a meat
market owner in Manning. Any information will be appreciated.

attorney to Edward Broughton, Atty., to handle his part of the
estate. Tried to get these papers from Court years ago but part of
