Lookup Volunteers

There are many Lee County references, but there is a shortage of volunteers to do look-ups. If you own (or have access to) any Lee County references and will do look-ups for others via e-mail, please let me know.

USGenWeb and SCGenWeb coordinators are working together on the issue of copyright laws and use of look-ups in materials protected by these laws. Please do not jepordize our ability to help you and others. Where volunteers are lined up, please abide by the following guidelines:

1) Limit your request to one name or married couple per request.

2) Please put LEE COUNTY LOOKUP in the subject line of your request to insure the message is not overlooked or accidentally deleted. In the first line of the message please put the name of the book from which you are requesting the lookup.

3) Please understand that information provided by a volunteer will be minimal. Also, remember that the volunteer will not be able to do any in depth research for you. When giving information from copyright protected materials, the volunteer will only be able to confirm the existence of information in the document. Lookups will extend to searching the index of the resource to determine if the book would be helpful to you in your research. Should the book prove useful, the lookup volunteer may be able to help you find a way to purchase or obtain access to the book. (e.g. interlibrary loan, exactly where you can purchase the resource, etc.)

If you request a lookup, please remember, ONE surname at a time. Provide as much information as possible in order to assist the volunteers in their search.
