In the name of God, Amen. I Thomas Holliday of Challford in the County of Gloucester,Gent. beinge

sicke in bodie butt of sound mind and of good memory thanks be given to God , doe make and ordaine

this my last willand testament in manner and forme following, namely.

 

Imprimis. I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker and unto Jesus Christ my only

saviour and redeemer by whose Death and passion I hope to be saved and by none other meanes:

my bodie to be buried in Christian burrial according to the direction of my overseer and Executor and as

concerning my wordly substance I give and bequeath it as followeth:

 

ITEM. I give to my daughter Elizabeth thirty pounds of lawfull money when shee shall accomplish the age

of eighteene yeares his to be paid out of my land by my own haire my sonne Thomas or his haires to my land

that then shall be.

 

ITEM. I give to my daughter Mary thirty pounds of lawfull money when shee shall accomplish the age of

eighteene yearesthis to be paid out of my land by my haire or his haires as above said.

 

ITEM. I give to my sonn Daniell twenty pounds of current money when he shall accomplish the age of

one and twenty yeares to be paid as above said out of my land by my haires.

 

ITEM. I give to my sonn William twenty pounds to be paid by my haire when my sonn William shall

accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares.

 

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my sonnes Daniell and William all that land that I bought of Edmund

Waite to be equaly divided betwixt them when the eldest of them shall accomplish the age of one and

twenty yeares.

 

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto Edith my wife fowerteene pounds a yeare after my haire comes of age

if she keeps her selfe widdow and then to have it soe longe as shee shall keepe her selfe widdow;

and if shee doe nott keepe her selfe widdow then shee is to have butt tenn pounds a yeare .

Also shee is to hold all my meanes until my haire comes of age towards the bringinge upp of my

children and the payment of my debts.

 

ITEM. My will is that if any or either of my children shall happen to die before they shall

be of age to claim their legacies that then my will is that his or her or their legacies shall be

equally divided amongst the rest of my children surviving.

 

ITEM. If my haire refuse to pay all or any of the above bequeathed legacies that then my

will is that these legatees shall hold the ground called The Hill under Cowcumbe and the old

tuckemill and all profits belonging durenge the term of one and threescore yeares.

 

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto Edith my wife all the rest of my goods, cattles, and chattles

both mouvable and unmouvable: my debts , funeral charges , being paid , and I make and ordaine

her to be the sole and only executrix of this my last will and testament.

 

ITEM. I doe ordaine overseer of this my will my two brothers-in-law Richard Batt and

Henry Bannister; and they are to have for their paines five shillings apeace to be paid

by my Executrix.

 

In witness hereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the 9th day of December 1641

in the seventeenth yeare of the reign of our sovereign Lord King Charles...

 

ITEM. My will is that my wife shall have the house that shee now dwells in during the

time that shee keeps her selfe widdow and if she marry shee is to have that house that my

hatcher lives durenge her life.
