St. Mark's, State of SC, planter, to Gabriel GERALD, of sd.
Parish and State, planter, the following described tract of land: "A
certain plantation or tract containing 300 acres situate lying on
Sammy Swamp, a branch of Black River in Craven Co., bounding N on
land granted and NW on Joseph CORBET and hath such shape
...etc...plat therefore annexxed to orig. grant of same to William
RICHARDSON party hereto together with all and singular
gardens, etc." Consideration: 10 Shillings current money. Signed.

03 September 1778 (Deed)_Wm. RICHARDSON of Parish of St.

County, bounding N on land granted to Richd. KATTON,, NE on
Richard WELLS and vacant land, SE on land granted and NW on
Joseph CORBET and Halt such shape...etc. plat annexed to
original grant to William RICHARDSON...with all gardens,
etc."
Consideration: 1,400 pds current money. Signed Wm. RICHARDSON

1778-1779 (Jury)_Camden District, Grand Jurors of Eastward of
Wateree
Listed "Gabriel FITZGERALD". Also listed were James
RICHBOURG, Claud. RICHBOURG and Henry RICHBOURG.

(Note: It appears there is some proof to the rumor that the
Geralds were once "Fitzgeralds." Gabriel's son married the
daughter
of James Richbourg. Claudius and Henry were James' brothers.
Looking
over deeds and notes, etc. it appears that the Richbourg family
was
close to Gabriel Gerald, even before the marriage of his son,
William, uniting both families.)

Charles GERALD; Jacob and Elizabeth BOATNER, Jesse

Mildred T. MOORE, all of Sumter District, SC sold same acres
on Hatchet Camp. (Obviously estate lands) (Source: Deed Book,
Claremont County, page 209) (NOTE: This was probably in accordance
with the auctioning off of the land that was ordered May 1811 and
probably occurred within the summer of 1811.)
