NOTES from the photographer Margaret E. Potter: These are not all of the Owen family photos in Hist. Cem. #23--I'm sure there are others. These are just all that I found in the short time that I had.

The initial photos are of an Owen family monument, which has inscriptions on 4 sides.  This monument says that "Benjamin Owen was a descendant of Samuel & Priscilla (Belcher) Owen who emigrated from Wales to New England in 1685."  This information was apparently based on a family genealogy prepared sometime in the 1850s which may be erroneous.

Benjamin T. Owen was a marble sculptor who, I believe, is the person who sculpted many, if not all, of the Owen monuments/gravestones in Acotes Hill Cemetery.  He is definitely the person who contributed the funds for the Owen Soldiers Monument that stands in North Scituate, RI.
