Stephen R. Sheldon and Thomas Sheldon to whose memory this stone is erected, were sons of Remington & Huldah Sheldon, of Pawtuxet, the former of whom died at Richmond, Va., Oct. 14, 1813, aged 26 years; and the latter at St. Pierres, Martinique, Jan. 19, 1817, aged 25 years.  They were both men of excellent worth, and both been Nautical Commanders, and adorned the society of which they were members. Also in memory of Christopher Sheldon, a brother of the above named, who died at Athens, Ohio, Sept. 18, 1846, 
aged 62 years.
