JOHN PERKINS was one of the earliest settlers in Williams County. A surveyor by trade, he was sent from the State Capital in Chillicothe
to survey "The Black Swamp Territory" and received land in the area as payment. He was born 19 May 1776 in Virginia or Washington Co.,
PA, and died 13 Sep 1848 in Williams Co., OH. He married (1) NANCY DAWSON, daughter of DAVID DAWSON and ELIZABETH.
She was born Abt. 1780, and died 12 Nov 1813 in Ross Co., OH. He married (2) ABIGAIL JONES 03 Mar 1814 in Ross Co., OH,
daughter of DAVID JONES. She was born Abt. 1780, and died 20 Aug 1836 in Williams
Co., OH. He married (3) MARY (SHROUFE)
02 Jan 1837 in Putnam Co., OH. She was born 1798, and died 1861 in Williams County, OH.
