Earl had a steam threshing machine, and did custom threshing around the Steuben County, and Williams County area. They lived on the West side of County Road 1,

Rillie would put a big kettle of water on the stove, and the guests would bring hot dogs for refreshments, and Earl would play his fiddle in the band. He worked at Montpelier Manufacturing which built ambulances, during World War II, and lived in Montpelier. Montpelier Manufacturing, was referred to by the locals, as the "Body Works", because they manufactured truck bodies. It was later purchased by White Motors, and burned. When he retired they moved to Edon, where he helped his son Cardinal with his parts business, until his death. When Aletzia Wolff's mother Ida died, she moved in with Grandma and Grandpa on the farm and lived there from 1936 to her graduation in 1940. She played the piano at the Bethel Church, and said she had to play "Love Lifted Me" every Sunday for Grandpa.

If you stayed with her, you had to carry water for your bath, and it was heated just enough to take the chill off. It didn't take long to take a bath. The only modern convenience she had was electricity, She had no T.V. Notes for EARL SHELDON WOLFF:
Earl was called Sheldon by the family, but went by Earl everywhere else. Earl did some farming, but was always an auto mechanic. He worked for Frank Gullinger, in his garage in Montpelier, until he started Wolff's service, which was originally located on West Main Street, on the North side, next to the St. Joseph's river bridge, in Montpelier. He later obtained the dealership, for Packard motor cars, and built a cement block building, to house the business, at the North end of Jonesville St., where he remained in business, until the Packard Company, went out of business. The building was then leased to the Leader-Enterprise newspaper, and eventually sold to The Loyal Order of Moose lodge # 312. He was in demand, for his wrecker service, because it was built especially for him, and was more like a crane, than a wrecker. He carried a Polaroid camera with him, and photographed every wreck he worked. When the wrecker was sold to Coy's service in Pioneer, Ohio, the photo album went with it. They retired it from service, painted it, and now feature it in parades. Earl was extremely active in the Montpelier Masonic Lodge # 547. He was also active in the York and Scottish Rite. He served as presiding officer of all the York Rite bodies, earning him the reward of Knight of the York Cross of Honor, which is the York Rite equivalent of the 33 degree. He was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star, with his wife Lula, being accorded many honors there. He was a lifelong member of the Central United Brethren Church, but did not attend, due to their belief, concerning the Masons. Earl was also a volunteer fireman, for the Montpelier Fire Department for many years. The Masonic Funeral Service, was conducted by Joe Bohner, his grandson. For many years one of Earl's trademarks was the ever present cigar in his mouth. He smoked and chewed Crook Bros. cigars, that were soaked in wine, but after a severe bout with the flu, about 5 years before his death, he gave them up.
