Perry School District No. 1
School Trustee Records
1831-1895

Thank you to Mary Priola for abstracting this project. Many of the entries are difficult to read and her efforts should provide a bonanza for descendants of those at the school meetings.

This first appeared in LakeLines, newsletter of the Lake County Genealogical Society October 2007. Republished here with permission of the Society. Thanks to Marianne Wiley for submitting.

At Morley Library records from Perry Schools of Lake and Geauga counties, District #1, have been abstracted. These trustee records cover the years 1831-1895 with several gaps. The list includes the date of the meeting, people named in the record for that meeting, and what was accomplished at the meeting. The document is about 19 pages long so selected entries are shown to help give you the flavor of the type of issues addressed. (Editorial Note: It’s amazing how the same types of decisions are still taking place—but the monetary amounts are more substantial.) A chronological list of all names in the records follows the highlighted items. If you see a name you are interested in researching, the original documents are available in the Genealogy Room.
