War Pensioners from the 1840 Census

Soldiers from the Revolutionary War, and perhaps later conflicts, occasionally received pensions. when the 1840 census was taken these veterans were to be listed with ages. This is from the Lake County 1840Census

War of 1812

This roster of soldiers, likely incomplete, is from the Williams Bros. "History of Geauga and Lake Counties." Being early in Ohio's history, many Ohioans served from other states before migrating here.

War of 1812 Soldiers Attend Conventions in Painesville 1858 and 1859

Parades and orations, some to encourage a pension act, took place at the park. And Horace Steele got relief for some of the New York vets in 1860.
