The following is from the report of General Rosecrans" "The Nineteenth Ohio distinguished itself for the cool and handsome manner in which it held its post against a flank attack, and for the manner in which it came into line and delivered its fire near the close of the action." The Nineteenth was not mustered out of service until September, 1861, on account of delays of the War Department.
