Born in Killingly, Conn., in 1764. Ebenezer Joy enlisted in the Revolutionary War at the age of fourteen.
He served four enlistments, dating Dec. 1778, May 1779, July 1780, March 1781; length of service twenty-two months, under Capt. Nichols, Houston, Abel Stevens, and Jonathan Benjamin; and Colonels McClellan, Bartlett, Nichols and Wait of Connecticut.
He was one of the early settlers of Perry township, owning a farm on the River road, near the west Methodist church.
His name appears among the town officers as early as 1819. Oldest inhabitants remember his death in Perry, but we have not been able to get the exact date or place of burial. He had no children and received a pension.
Ebenezer Joy and wife were among the charter members of the Church of Christ organized at Perry in August 1829 by Elder Sidney Rigdon.
