The following abstracts are taken from biographical sketches of former Lake Co OH men living in Wisconsin, and published in 1881 in The History of Northern Wisconsin by the Western History Company, Chicago. LLOYD, George L., merchant, Neillsville, Clark Co WI... born Willoughby, Lake Co OH 9 Aug 1840...At age 19 to Colorado for one year... to Neillsville 1859, engaged in lumber business, with Wells & Co to 1873, when he set up his own business...He married Dora MARSHALL of Hingham, Sheboygan Co WI in 1873. They have two children: Glynn and Clyde. (p 242)

GRAHAM, David., farmer, P.O. Egg Harbor, Door Co WI, native of Lake Co OH...born 23 Feb 1815...To Sheboygan Co WI 1844 and was a millwright until 1858, when he removed to Fish Creek, Door Co and bought a 120 acre farm. Sold out and went to Egg Harbor, where he now has 160 acres...Justice of Peace...Chairman of Egg Harbor 8 years and Chairman of County Board...March 1837 he married Elizabeth SEARLES of Ohio. They have four sons and one daughter. (p 266)

WILLIAMS, L. L., merchant, Eau Claire Co WI...born Kirtland, Lake Co OH, 14 Mar 1843...To Augusta WI May 1869 in a book & stationary partnership, first with his brother O. A. WILLIAMS in the spring 1870; added jewelry stock in 1874. Erected brick store 1875 and purchased brother's interest in Oct 1879, adding dry goods & groceries in 1881... Agent for American Express since Aug 1876; on County Board 1877, serving his fourth year as Town Treasurer... He married in Chardon, Geauga Co OH, 2 Feb 1865, Elvira A. SEARL, b LeRoy, Lake Co OH. They have two children: Dorliska N. and Albert L. A daughter, Sadie M., died August 1877, aged 3 1/2 years. Mr. WILLIAMS is a member of I.O.O.F. lodge. (p 342)

DILLE, Melvin E., foreman of Jenny Lumber Co sawmills at Merill, Lincoln Co WI...To Wisconsin Oct 1849 and settled at Lomera, Dodge Co. until 1860; to Fond du Lac five years and began milling; to Green Bay three years and Oakfield two years in retail lumber trade. In 1870 he purchased half-interest in "The Shingle Mill Co" at Necedah (with T. Weston & Co) and remained ten years, then came to Merill, in Lincon Co, his present location...He married (1) in Lomira, 17 Nov 1859, Mary J. Wade, born in NY, who died 24 Mar 1877. They had three children: Wade M., Jennie L. and Rosa B... He married (2) 27 Oct 1877, Margret WALSH, a native of New Brunswick. (p 446)

HOWE, H.E., in company with M.H. McCORD in Jenny Lumber Co, Merrill, Lincoln Co WI, which employed seventy men....1868 to Weyauwega WI for 1 ½ years in mercantile business, then to Shawano in the same business as a partner in POTTER & HOWE, then purchased full interest and remained to 1873. Since then engaged in lumbering and milling on Wolf River. Spent some time in Oshkosh with J.D. Gillette of Addison N.Y; 1876 bookkeeper for C.M. UPHAM & Bro...Born in New York City 1 Jan 1834 and then emigrated with parents to Ohio 1837, where he lived with parents for 18 years... He married in Willoughby, Lake Co OH, 29 May 1862 (wife unnamed) b Cleveland OH 14 Oct 1840. They have had five children: Ella J., Mary, Henrietta, H.E. Jr. & Lewis L. STANNARD, Walter D., M.D., of Tomah, Monroe Co WI...Born Lake Co OH in 1841, brought up in Cuyahoga Co...Educated at University of Michigan, graduating from medical department Spring 1855. Served in Army hospital as steward one year then discharged for disability. After graduation entered Army as assistant surgeon for one year...To Tomah WI June 1878...He married Narcena HUNT, a native of Michigan. They have two sons: H. Bert and John C. (p 651)

FAYERWEATHER, S. Carlos, Mason and farmer of Pepin Co WI...Born near Painesville OH 9 Jan 1827...His grandfather on his father's side was born in Scotland. His father, David FAYERWEATHER was born 9 Sept 1793, died in Pepin 11 Aug 1878, in the 85th year of his age...and had been a millwright before 1853 when he came to farm at Pepin. His mother, Sarah, b 19 Dec 1804, died near Painesville 21 Oct 1832 and David went to Jefferson CO PA from 1833-1853...S. Carlos married 26 Apr 1849, Susanna Richards of Lycoming, PA. They have 7 children living: David A., Mary E., Willis A., Roswell, Arthur C., Sarah Ann, and Burton...He is a member of the First Board of Supervisors of town of Pepin and is now Chairman of the Board; was Treasurer two years, a Justice of the Peace and Constable, as well as a school officer, He is a Mason, a Granger, and a "Chosen Friend." LAMPORT, C.D., a bookkeeper for Mr. Henry PETERS of Hersey, St. Croix CO WI... He was born in Lake Co Oh 1841 and his parents went to Chicago IL 1845, then to LaSalle Co IL; removed to Crawford Co WI 1856. The father went to Pierce Co WI, where he died in 1880...C.D. was a teacher in Crawford Co not less than seventeen winter terms, usually engaged in a lumber mill in summer; to Pierce Co 1875; to Hersey in 1879, teaching here winter of 1879-80, then engaged with Mr Peteres...His wife was Susan J. SHERMAN. They had three children (not named) (p 963)

DICKINSON, Parley, M.D. of New London, Waupaca Co WI; of Scotch and English ancestry, born Haddam CT 27 Aug 1807. His parents settled in the Western Reserve in 1817. In 1845 he went to Lake Co IL, having graduated the Spring of 1844 from Western Reserve Medical College; May 1857 to New London, where he was in the drug business for twelve years. In 1872 appointed Medical Examiner for U.S. Pension Bureau...Charter member and first Master of the New London Lodge 131, A.F.& A.M. (p 1091)

DICKINSON, C.E., druggist, New London, Waupaca Co WI; son of Dr. Parley DICKINSON. C.E. was born in Lake Co OH 1843; educated in Waukegan IL and New London WI , where his father settled in 1857. Studied and clerked with father and in 1867 entered into partnership with him. In Feb.1871 A. TRAYER bought out Dr. Dickinson's share thus forming the present firm of Dickinson & TRAYER. The store was built in 1874...Mr. Dickinson has been Secretary of A.F. & A.M. lodge and Recorder of New London Lodge, A.O.U.W...He married Emogene STINSON of St. Lawrence Co NY. They have lost five children (three dying of diptheria in Aug 1879) and have two living. (p 1091)

WEBB, H.A., foreman of cooper shop, Winnebago Co WI...Born in Madison, OH, 25 Apr 1833; to Winnebago Co with parents in 1849 and remained on parents' farm until old enough to farm for himself. After two years to Menasha Woodenware Co for three years and then to Niles MI to learn cooper's trade; in winter of 1864 assisted in delivery of supplies to troops at Niles; 1866 to Neenah WI...He married in Milton, near Niles MI 24 Feb 1858, Loretta J. ENOS, daughter of the late Uriot ENOS, a former member of the legislature. They have one daughter, Lillien M. (p 1178)
