Stephen D. Carroll, the present Postmaster of Painesville, was appointed by President Wilson in February, 1914, and as the Painesville post office is a first-class office the position is considered an important one. Mr. Carroll was before his appointment connected with The Educational Supply Company, which Company publishes the Lake County Herald and through the medium of the Herald was brought into close touch with the business men of the city and county, and his devotion to the best interests of his environments made his appointment a popular one. As Postmaster, Mr Carroll has been most faithful to his duties and active in his efforts to improve the service. He has but one rule of conduct for himself and other employees of the office: "The people pay the bill and are entitled to every consideration from public servants." Mr. Carroll has lead the fight in Painesville's efforts to secure a new Federal Post Office Building.
