Ernest P. Yetter

January 24, 1927 ~ January 9, 2019

Ernest P. Yetter, age 91, of Vickery, died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019, at The Willows at Bellevue.

He was born January 24, 1927, Castalia, and graduated from Townsend High School. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, and retired from GM’s New Departure, Sandusky, when he turned 65 years old. Ernest also was a farmer and gardner; growing sweet corn and tomatoes, and worked for Farrell Cheek Steel Company. He loved to travel with his wife Lillian, collect Life magazines and John Deere tractors, and he enjoyed playing dartball for the church. Ernest was a member of the Firelands Pioneer Power Club, SCRAP, and the Townsend Ruritan.

He is survived by his wife Lillian (Frederick) Yetter, who he married on February 28, 1953; two daughters Susan Yetter, Vickery, and Sandy (Jeff) Nemitz, Castalia; three sons Marc (Ann) Yetter, Wakeman, Matthew (Lynne) Yetter, Vickery, and David (Holly) Yetter, Vickery; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two sisters Connie Schlosser and Kathy Damschroder; and several nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Ernest F. and Mildred (Ried) Yetter; and three sisters Ruth, Shirley, and Carol.

Friends may call from 10 AM until time of memorial service at 11 AM, Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
