Audrey J. Yancy, 87, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2019, with her daughter by her side, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 22, 1931 to Orville and Beatrice (Stratton) Platte in Sandusky. Audrey was a 1949 graduate of Margaretta High School, Castalia where she was a cheerleader and majorette. She retired as an executive secretary from the former Periodical Publisher Bureau, Division of the Hearst Corporation, Sandusky after many years of service. She also worked for several years at the former Show Boat Restaurant, Huron. Audrey was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, putting everyone before herself, especially her kids. She loved spending time with her family, particularly their trips to Cedar Point. Her hobbies included; dancing, roller skating, watching figure skating, gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and she loved all animals, particularly her "girls" Bella and Chloe.
She is survived by three children, Gary (Venetia) Conyer of Missouri, Sandra Conyer of Maumee, and Lori Yancy of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Christine and Alicia Conyer; two great grandchildren, Elyse and Kara; her special dogs, Bella and Chloe; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Beatrice (Stratton) Platte; and her grandparents, Julia and Edward Brandall.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 PM, Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Rev. Bill Schroeder of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
