George Lee Williams

May 7, 1946 ~ May 2, 2019

George L. Williams, 72, Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Providence Care Center.

He was born May 7, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Walter and Ruthie May (Farris) Williams. He attended Sandusky High School where he excelled in football, basketball and track before graduating with the class of 1965.

George worked for Ford Motor Company for 25 years. He was involved with Sandusky Boosters for many years, and loved coaching grade school football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; and was always up for a picnic or barbeque. He was an avid sports enthusiast and attended Sandusky High School sporting events regularly as well as local basketball tournaments in the summer.

He is survived by his 9 children Stephanie (Anthony) Woods, Marla (James) Moore, Christopher G., Jarrod M., all of Sandusky; and Shannon (Matthew) Schnell of Norwalk, Ohio, Shenia T., Kelsey L., Jarel L. all of Columbus, Ohio; and Amber N. of Waterford, Michigan; his wife, Margaret Elaine Williams; brothers, Steward (Ellen) Williams of Kentucky, and Eddie L. (Rose) Williams of Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter A. Williams Jr. whom died in Vietnam, and John B. Williams; sister, Linda E. (Williams) Morgan; granddaughter, Journey L. Williams; and great-grandson, Tyler A. Williams.

Friends and family may call on Friday May 10, 2019, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Eagle’s Nest Church, 2126 Pipe St. Sandusky. Pastor Darrell Gant will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
