Gilbert F. Weyer, 92, Castalia, died Monday, March 11, 2019, in Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born in Castalia on November 15, 1926, to the late Albert and Emma (Miller) Weyer. Gilbert was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army.
He was a farmer, worked for G & C Foundry, Big B's Leasing and Eastern Express.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2529, Amvets Post 17, and American Legion Post 83, former member of the Farm Bureau, loved gardening, farming and going to tractor pulls.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Bruce) Neil, Whites Landing, Patsy (Timothy) Longnecker, Sandusky, Roger (Laurie) Weyer and Richard (Sylvia) Weyer, both of Castalia; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eloise Mitchell, Milan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Iona Weyer on February 12, 2019; parents; sisters, Dorothy Miller and Marilyn Rapp; and a brother, Andrew Weyer.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 4-7 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 A.M. in the funeral home with Deacon Jeff Claar officiating.
Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery with the American Legion Post 83 Color Guard providing military honors.
