Mary A. (Avila) Veliz

September 24, 1936 ~ February 21, 2019

Mary A. Veliz, age 82, of Castalia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Thursday morning, February 21, 2019, in her residence.

She was born September 24, 1936, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky. Mary worked for Barr Rubber and Union Chain for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, making dolls, and playing board games. Mary especially enjoyed her Cleveland Indians and would watch every game on TV.

She is survived by her daughter Linda (Robert) Veliz-Smith; five sons Raul (Cindy) Veliz Jr., Jessie Veliz, Joseph (Tami) Veliz, James, and Victor Veliz; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; three sisters Tina, Toni, and Sophie; brother Jessie; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Raul G. Veliz Sr.; parents Jose and Teresa (Estein) Avila; and daughter Rosemary Veliz. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019, at 12 Noon. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate.

Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
