Christel Thomsen, 87, of Kingsland, Texas and former long-time resident of Sandusky, Ohio, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, in Lakeway, TX.
She was born in Idar-Oberstein, Germany in 1931 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1956. She recently moved to Texas to be closer to family.
Growing up she worked at home on the farm and later at a small jewelry factory in Germany. In Sandusky, she was part owner of Feddersons's Bakery, well known by locals for the infamous "New Years's Pretzel". She enjoyed many years serving customers, decorating cakes, and making baked goods. In retirement she enjoyed bowling and fishing with a local ladies fishing group.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Schumann and Shirley (Dan) Bouvier; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Christel was preceded in death by her husband, Dieter Thomsen; and son, Norman Thomsen.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 4:30 P.M. until time of funeral services at 6 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Philip A. Gardner will officiate. Burial will take place Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Oakland Cemetery.
