Honorah "Nora" Swanbeck

July 22, 1943 ~ May 27, 2017

Honorah "Nora" Swanbeck of Huron, passed away Saturday May 27, 2017.

Nora was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 22, 1943 to Blanch "St.Clair"and Ragnar "Bud" Lindholm before moving to North Manchester, Indiana in her youth. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1961 then attended Manchester Collage before transferring to The Ohio State University.

Nora was talented in many careers in her life. At one point she was the Assistant Director of the Ohio Student Loan Commission. She also enjoyed time as a floral designer, cake decorator and advertising sales among other jobs. One of her favorite positions was working for the Erie County Reporter in sales and also as a columnist. Her weekly column was a favorite amongst the readers, frequently dealing with issues pertaining to her family, much to the chagrin of her teenage children.

Nora loved spending time on the beach collecting lucky stones, gardening and flowers, all passions she passed down to her daughter. She was beloved by her grandchildren and had a special and unique individual relationship with each one. All winter Nora lamented the cold weather then rejoiced in the first few days of warm weather only to be followed shortly by loathing the extreme heat.

Nora is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ray; daughter Betsy Kay (Kevin) of Huron; son, Carl "Buddy"(Angie) of Monroeville; son, Jimmy of Sandusky; sister, Sharon Jobe of Huron; grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Michael "Mickey", Emily, Gretel, Andrew, Colin, Jens, Kelley, Clair "Oscar", Madeline, Carl and step-grandson Cameron.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter Margaret Swanbeck.

Cremation will take place and the family will receive visitors at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron, Friday, June 2nd from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. with a service to follow.
