Florence C. Stierhoff, 78, residing in Sandusky passed away Saturday morning, February 16, 2019 at the Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Florence was born on July 27, 1940 in Sandusky to the late Walter F. Whetstone and Dorothy (Rhonehouse) Whetstone-Minard.
Florence was a member of St. Stephen U.C.C. She was a member of the Sandusky Orioles Club and a lifetime member of the Sandusky Amvets #29. She was employed by Hinde & Dauche Paper Co., Little Red Gift House, Smith's House of Gifts, and retired from Stierhoff Bros. Moving in 2010 after many years of service.
Florence enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, going to the casinos, helping at St. Stephen's rummage sale, and spending time with family and friends.
Florence is survived by her son, Michael (Marcia) Stierhoff of Sandusky, OH; four grandchildren, Matt of Columbus, OH, Myles (Kayla) of Columbus, OH, Louis (Denise) Wargo of Port Clinton, OH, and Paula Wargo (Ben Connors) Fremont, OH; one great grandchild, Norah Wargo; sister, Linda (Lloyd) Pitsenbarger of Sandusky, OH; sisters-in-law, Frieda Stierhoff and Sandy (Stierhoff) Roeder; brother-in-law, Norman (Ruby) Stierhoff and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. in 2004; daughter, Sylvia Stierhoff; one brother, Walter F. Whetstone; three sisters, Margie Tippie, Marylynn Whetstone and Dorothy Ebeling.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky. Friends may also call on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 11:00 am at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Pastor Jerald Fenske will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
