Mike E. Stammitti

May 21, 1969 ~ December 15, 2017

Mike Eric John Stammitti, 48, of Huron, passed away December 15, 2017, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, due to heart failure.

Mike was born May 21, 1969 in Lorain, OH and graduated from Lorain High School in 1988 and served in the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. His work experience included Ford Motor Co, In Avon Lake, both Lorain and Erie County Juvenile Detention Centers, and Steris Corp. at the Cleveland Clinic.

Mike was a Freemason. He loved giving and helping others. His vision of life continues after his death; his corneas were donated to a recipient in need. If you met as strangers, you departed as friends, and he likely knew somebody you knew.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Baumert) Stammitti; stepson, Nick Canterbury; sisters, Linda (Eric) Balzer, Pauline Eagle, Tish (John) McMahon, Carol Lottig, Ann (Jack) Fleming; brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Stammitti, Phil (Mary Jo) Stammitti; and parents-in-law, Ron and Donna Baumert. He also leaves behind scores of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his Yellow-Headed Amazon parrot, Dewey, his dog, Sasha.

He is preceded in death by his mother, ClayVerne (Robinson) Stammitti; father, Richard P. Stammitti; Brother, Al Stammitti; stepson, Kyle Miller; a niece, Jessica Toth; and nephews, Steve Roszos and Adrian Roszos.

The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 18th at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd, Sandusky, from 4 to 8 p.m. with funeral services to be held Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 11 a.m. Pastor David Brown will officiate. All are welcome to attend to celebrate the life of a man who made everyone smile and laugh.

Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Huron.
