Douglas C. Schlett, 61, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly late Monday evening, March 4, 2019, at his home.
Born on December 18, 1957, in Sandusky, the son of Eugene Andrew and Barbara Ellen (Zerman) Schlett. He was a 1977 graduate of Sandusky High School and later attended classes B.G.S.U. Firelands Campus. Doug had been working as a sales associate at Cabela's in Avon and was the former owner of Phoenix Lures. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Carter, and he loved to cook, travel and spending time catching up with his friends. Another passion of Doug's was having fun going out bass fishing on the lake, as well as, fishing professionally in tournaments.
He was a member of the Sandusky Orioles Club and the N.R.A..
Doug is survived by a daughter, Emilee (her fiance, Jake Sears) Schlett of Fremont; a son, Samuel Schlettt of Sandusky; his grandson, Carter A. Sears; and his former wife, Cheri (Baumbusch) Schlett of Sandusky; his sister, Melissa (Thomas) Grahl of Sandusky; a step-brother, Craig (Bonnie) DeLapp of Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara (Zerman) DeLapp; his father, Eugene A. Schlett; and his step-father, Harry A. DeLapp.
It was Doug's wishes to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 5-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
