Elizabeth Jeanne Printy

October 6, 1924 ~ March 3, 2019

Elizabeth Jeanne Printy, 94, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2019 of natural causes.

Jeanne was born October 6, 1924 to Norman and Margaret Geatz in Cumberland, MD. She attended Ursuline Academy and Georgetown University School of Nursing in Washington, DC. She worked as a hospital nurse and private duty nurse in Georgetown, and it was during this time that she met her future husband, Dr. James E. Printy. They later moved to Sandusky where he established his medical practice. Living in Perkins Township, Jeanne and Jim raised 12 children, all of whom graduated from Perkins High School.

Jeanne was a member of the Erie County Women's Medical Auxiliary and conducted annual pre-school screenings. She enjoyed bowling in both women's and mixed leagues. Until the time of her death, Jeanne was in regular attendance of Perkins High School football and basketball athletic events.

A highlight of her week was attendance at Saturday mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, where she was a member. Throughout her life she offered support and care to others, whether welcoming her children's friends to a bowl of soup, transporting relatives to medical appointments, serving as a Befriender in her parish, baking pies for funeral lunches, or serving as a Stein Hospice volunteer. She had a smile that lit up a room. She loved making and mentoring new friends, most recently those she met at water aerobics class at the YMCA and at church. To her grandchildren, she gave unwavering encouragement, dispensed pragmatic advice, and nurtured an appreciation of "bling." She was quite tech savvy, and used her iPad to stay in touch with her extended family on Facebook.

Jeanne is survived by eleven children: Michael Printy (Jan Naniger), Susan Printy (Richard Reese), Jeffrey Printy (Janet Angello), Patricia Klohn, Nancy Nagai (Richard), Gary Printy (Marianne Anderson), Beth Palmison, Matthew Printy (Nina Ochoa), John Printy (Kathleen Pratt), Dean Printy (Linda Pelehach), and Brian Printy (Tamara Blackwood) and by three sisters, Patricia Fitzpatrick, Nancy Quinn, and Margaret Wilt. Also surviving her are 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James; by two daughters, Barbara Gaydos and Margaret Terese (in infancy); and by three brothers, Norman Geatz, George Geatz, and Philip Geatz.
