Richard J. Prieur

May 29, 1957 - June 9, 2020

Richard J. Prieur, 63, of Castalia, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Rich was born on May 29, 1957 in Sandusky, OH.

Rich graduated from Margaretta High School in 1976. He was a cook and painter his entire life. Rich was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, football, especially the New York Giants and Ohio State, Ozzy Osborne and collecting Three Stooges memorabilia.

Rich is survived by his son, Rick (Frances) Prieur of Castalia; aunt and godmother, Mary Fink of Castalia; grandchildren, Corbin, Brantley, Alyssa, Maleah, Kenzi and Anthony; great-grandson, Noah; sisters, Deborah Rogers of Sandusky, Tina Rodriguez of Louisiana and Dawn Smith of Port Clinton; brothers, William Prieur Jr. and Scott Smith both of Port Clinton; long time friends, Gregory Spendiarian of Sandusky and Sheryl and Mark Miller of Huron and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and David Prieur; grandparents, John and Lucille Strouse and uncle, Dick Fink.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate.

Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
