John D. McGraw

August 14, 1933 ~ January 12, 2018

John D McGraw, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018, surrounded by his family.

He was born August 14, 1933 in Bucyrus, Ohio and attended high school in Tiro, Ohio, where he met his wife, Carolyn Fagan McGraw. They were married for 66 years.

John served in the Army Reserves from 1952-1956. After moving his family in 1960 from Galion, Ohio, to Huron, he wasted little time getting involved in community activities.

He served as past president of the Huron Jaycees, Huron Booster Club and was one of the founders of the Huron Water Festival, now Huron Riverfest. He worked at Columbia Gas for 40 years, before retiring in 1991.

John is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughter Sharon (Jim) Wilson, son Brian (Katy), daughter-in-law Kathie, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son John Jr., and granddaughter, Amy Oney.

Friends will be received at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron, from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 and on Wednesday, January 17 from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon.

Cremation will take place and a private family committal will be at Meadow Green Memorial Pk, Huron, at a later date.
