George H. Knight

November 20, 1938 - December 18, 2019

George H. Knight, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday morning, December 18, 2019 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

George was born on November 20, 1938 in Monroeville, OH to the late Theodore Knight and Esther (Burton) Darnell.

George graduated from Monroeville High School in 1956 and retired as a wheelsman from Bethlehem Steel in PA after 40 years of service. He was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country from 1957 to 1967. George was a member of the Sandusky Amvets Post #29 and the American Legion Post 83. George enjoyed fishing, Ohio State Football, attending many games with his son, Scott and grandchildren, Lily and Luke. He was an avid collector and smoker of pipes and cigars. George loved animals, the Great Lakes and spending time with his family and friends.

George is survived by his wife, Luella (Coleman) Knight, whom he married in 1976. He is also survived by his son, Scott (Kat) Marriott of London, OH; grandchildren, Lily and Luke Marriott; sisters, Karen Skinn of Huron and Gracetta Swanson of Monroeville; brother, John Darnell of Sandusky; nieces, Heather Skinn and Megan Darnell and nephew, Daryl Cleavenger.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his niece, Kelly Darnell.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 9:30 am until the time of funeral services at 10:30 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Rev Ric Babcock will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
