Joyce Frances (Rudiger) Kiether

February 26, 1929 ~ May 11, 2019

Joyce Frances (Rudiger) Kiether, 90, peacefully went to be with her Lord and join His angels on May 11, 2019.

She was born on February 26, 1929 to John and Edith B. (Wachman) Rudiger in Sandusky. A graduate of the esteemed Western Reserve School of Nursing in Cleveland, her career as an RN spanned 50 years, continuing as a 20-year hospital volunteer.

She married the Reverend William John Kiether in 1951 and became a devoted Pastor's wife and mother, dedicated to the Lord's work and her churches, including volunteer missions to Haiti. In addition to being a mother extraordinaire and phenomenal friend, Joyce was a popular neighbor, 47 year breast cancer survivor, international traveler, steward of the earth, avid golf fan, secret Easter bunny and care package provider, and one tough cookie.

Joyce is survived by her four children, Danielle (Dr. Del) Hoppes, Jacquelyn Kiether, Michelle (Mark) Zelesky, and William Jay Kiether; five grandchildren, Andrea, Zachary and Matthew (Sarah-Jayne) Hoppes, and Kent and Megan Zelesky; and three great-grandchildren, Shawn, Chloe, and Owen Hoppes; sister, Kathleen Rudiger; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years; her parents; and brothers, Kent and John.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. until funeral services begin at 11 a.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, 502 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky. Rev. Philip A. Gardner will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
