David "Butch" Hoffer, 72, residing in Huron, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
David was born on June 26, 1946 in Newark, OH to Harry Allen and Emma (Wenzel) Hoffer.
David graduated from Margaretta High School in 1965. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam. He retired in 2001 from New Departure/Delphi after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, NRA and the Erie County Conservation League. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and watching Judge Judy.
David is survived by his wife, Gloria J. (Cotner) Hoffer, whom he married on February 16, 1971. He is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Roger) Witt and Jill (Wilson) Rivera; son, Patrick Hoffer; grandchildren, David Wahl and Harley Witt; brother, Terry Hoffer and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
David is preceded in death by his father, Harry Hoffer; step-mother; Gladys Hoffer; mother, Emma Hoffer; brothers, Jim and Evan Hoffer and step-brothers, James and Richard Grandy.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 11:00 am until the time of memorial services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Ric Babcock will officiate.
