Mary Ann (Legg) Highlander

June 25, 1937 ~ February 27, 2019

Mary Ann (Legg) Highlander, 81, residing in Castalia, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 27, 2019 at her home after a lengthy illness.

Mary Ann was born on June 25, 1937 in Clifty, WV to the late Pete and Gladola (Crist) Legg.

Mary Ann graduated from Nuttall High School in 1955. She was a member of North Pointe Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, camping, traveling to Florida with her husband, John and building houses with John. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, John A. Highlander, whom she married on March 31, 1956. She is also survived by her daughters, Deborah (Kevin dec.) O'Halla of Grand Rapids, MI and Judith (Roger) Strait of Interlochen, MI; son, Donald (Patricia) Highlander of Chagrin Falls, OH; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ada Love of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy (Gene) Ferris of Knox, PA, Merlyn (Ken) Sawyer of S. Williamsport, PA; two brothers, Steve (Darla) Legg of Green Springs, OH, Jerry (Pat) Legg of Castalia, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her one sister, Alma Legg, and two brothers, Paul Legg and Pete Legg.

Friends may call on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert of North Pointe Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sandusky.
