John W. Halter

August 25, 1940 ~ September 25, 2017

John W. Halter , 77 of Huron, Ohio was ushered into Heaven on Monday Sept 25th, 2017. After a lengthy battle and recent complications, he passed at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born August 25, 1940 in Roswell, NM to John W. and Loretta E. (Strong) Halter. John was a 1958 graduate of Massillon High School and a 1962 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College where he was a member of the 1961 undefeated football team. In 1962 he married his college sweet heart, Judy (Hinde) Halter . John taught High School after college before he opened John Halter Realty in 1967. John retired in 2008.

John's greatest joy was spending time with his beloved wife Judy and his daughters Jody (Eric) Mast, Jillann (Ron) Scott, Jennifer Halter and his 9 grandchildren Emily, Graham, John, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Kate, Meredith, Reece and Avery.

John served his community through numerous leadership roles with the Huron Public Library, The Huron Rotary Club, Younglife, Men’s Prayer Breakfast and opening his home for weekly Bible Studies.

He will be remembered for his integrity, service, generosity, sense of humor, contagious smile and deep faith in God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson (Elliot Mast).

Visitation will be 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 30th at The Chapel at 4444 Galloway Rd, Sandusky, OH 44870 with a celebration of his life at 1:00 pm with Jay Haley officiating.
