Robert Claire Hakeman, 85, of Huron, Ohio, passed through the eternal gates of heaven on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
He was born April 23, 1932, to Cornyle and Esther (Brinkert) Hakeman on the family farm near Sanborn, Iowa.
Robert grew up on the Hakeman Family Farm and attended Sanborn Public School. While attending school he performed daily farm chores with his brothers and played varsity sports. Robert obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State University followed by a short period of time in the United States Army. After serving his country, he worked as a salesman for a few companies prior to joining Sea-Land Chemical Company in 1975. He was known for many exceptional accomplishments throughout his career, including his memberships to: Institute of Food Technologist, Oil Chemists Society, Society of Plastic Engineers, Cleveland Chemical Association, Society of Cosmetic Chemist, Society of Tribologists and Lubricant Engineers. He was most known for being the Executive Vice President of Sea-Land Chemical Company for over forty years. After retiring in December of 2000, he remained a key member on the Board of Directors through 2015.
Robert was a devoted Christian who loved his Faith, Family, Friends, and Fishing. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was very active at Christ's Community Meals.
Survivors include his wife, Chris Ann Hakeman of Huron; six sons and four daughters-in-laws, Robert (Lois) Hakeman of Sanborn, IA, Michael (Valerie) Hakeman of Bourbonnais, IL, Philip (Caryl) Lamberti of Spring Brooke Twp., PA, Jim (Jackie) Lamberti of Factoryville, PA, Nicky Lamberti of Coal Township, PA, Matthew Lamberti of Pittston Twp., PA, one daughter, Lori Koski of North Royalton, OH; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Don Hakeman of Sanborn, IA, William (Ande) Hakeman of Lafayette, LA and Tom (Candy) Hakeman of Tacoma, WA; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In heaven he will reunite with his parents, Cornyle and Esther; his youngest son, Jeffrey Thomas Hakeman; his brother, Gerald Hakeman; and his twin granddaughters Morgan and Taylor Hakeman.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is assisting the family.
