Ozella (McCarty)) Grant, 86, Sandusky, departed this life on May 8, 2019, in Stein Hospice Care Center.

She was born on May 10, 1932 in Waynesboro, MS to the late Isaac and Nettie (Gaines) McCarty.

She was a long-time member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and as Charity-Ette. Ozella loved fishing, quilting, cooking, going to church, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the Eastern Star and retired form Dixon Ticonderoga Co. After retirement Ozella went back to work and held positions at All American Hotel and Cedar Point. She enjoyed sharing stories, guidance, and her cooking with new friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories; daughters, Janet Ferrell and Marylon (Dony) Davis both of Sandusky, and Mary Helen Grant of Columbus, OH; step-son. Melvin (Maria) Walker of London, England, special nephews, Ray Grant and Donovan Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Nettie Lee Mercier of Chicago, IL., and Margerie Worsham of Waynesboro, MS.; brother, Samuel McCarty of Sandusky; and many special nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Grant Jr; daughter, Bridget Ann Grant; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Grant; step-son, Mike Redding; sisters, Hazel Sumlin, Lucille Matthews, Penni Mae McCarty, Emma Fedder, Pinkie McGrew, Erlene Morgan and Albenie Richey; brothers, Issac McCarty Jr., David McCarty, Wiley McCarty and Willie B. McCarty.

Friends may call on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 6-8 P.M. in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. in the church. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson Jr. will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
