Andre Gleyzal, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday evening, December 19, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Andre was born on February 3, 1930 in Cleveland, OH to the late Joseph Zuris and Georgette Gleyzal.
Andre, a Veteran of the US Navy, proudly served his country during the Korean War. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing sailboats on all of the Great Lakes, and around Bermuda and doing jigsaw puzzles. He loved everything about music and inspired a love for it in his children. Andre also instilled in his children a hard work ethic and the importance of good manners. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Andre is survived by his two daughters, Diane Avriett and Denise Peterson; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three nieces, Robin Wilkins, Jaye Gleyzal and Kristi Bulloch.
In addition to his parents, Andre is preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Derevjanik and brother, Bob (Janice) Gleyzal.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky.The family is grateful for the loving care of the nurses and staff of the Ohio Veterans Home.
