Patricia Ann Fries, 76, of Huron passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehab, Huron.
She was born November 19, 1941 in Cleveland and graduated from Westlake High School in 1959. She received her undergraduate degree in English and Social Studies from Bowling Green State University. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in English from Ball State University.
Over the years, she was active in St. Peter Parish, Huron. In addition to cooking for the parish festival in the 1970's, she was also on the parish council, and taught religion classes to elementary students. In 1981, she was actively involved in organizing the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Pat served on the Erie Metropolitan Housing Authority board for 30 years. She was very proud to be a member of the board and the accomplishments made over the years helping those in need.Over the years, Pat taught at Huron High School, Perkins High School, St. Paul Junior High School, Edison High School, and St. Mary’s High School. Although she had a passion for teaching, her primary love was centered on family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas; children, Brett (Melissa) Fries of Huron, Amy (Peter) Castro of Boulder, CO, and Kimberly (Nate) Woodring of Longmont, CO; 10 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob, Elizabeth, Rachel, Allison, Addison, Meghan, Lucas, Ava, and Alena; her three sisters, Carol (Dan) Meeks of North Ridgeville, Suzie (John) Murcer of North Royalton and Kathy (Joe) Reyes of Irving, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Helen Griban.
Visitation at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St, Huron, will be on Wednesday, Nov 14th from 9 a.m. until the 11am Mass celebrating Pat’s life. Rev. Jeffery P. Sikorski will be officiating.
