Jack R Cook

September 21, 1926 ~ February 13, 2019 (age 92)

Jack R. Cook of Huron, 92, passed away unexpectedly February 13, 2019 at Firelands Hospital, Sandusky.

He was born September 21, 1926 in Elyria, OH. He graduated from Elyria High School and attended Ohio State University.

He played drums in his father's orchestra (Cook's Orchestra) in Elyria, Ohio for many years.

He worked 33 years at Wagner Quarries Company, Sandusky, Ohio and retired as V.P. of sales.

He married Gwenna May Brown of Bedford, Ohio December 24, 1951. They had 2 children, a son Jack Cook Jr. (deceased) and a daughter, Debra (Kirk) Trautman residing in Florida. He also had 2 grandchildren, Dana (Trautman) Georges of Indiana, and Dustin Trautman of Florida; 3 great grandchildren, Baylee Trautman, Klohey Georges and Mattaeo Georges.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwenna May Cook whom he was married to for over 50 years, and a son, Jack (Rick) Cook. His father, Henry H. Cook and Mary Cook of Elyria, Ohio.

Jack enjoyed traveling to and cruising the Caribbean Islands, favorite places being, Hawaii and Belize. He was an avid golfer and never missed a summer of playing golf in his 92 years. Jack was runner up twice to Club Champion at Plum Brook County Club and was a member there for over 33 years.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Amvets, Huron Eagles and Honorary member of the Huron Donut Shop. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a radar operator on the aircraft carrier Kula Gulf in the South Pacific. He was able to attend the Honor Flight which he was very proud of.

As per Jack's request, there will be no services or memorial.

Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is handling the arrangements.
