Thomas W. Carroll, 88, of Huron passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Thomas was born August 31, 1930 in New York City to Thomas and Estelle (Belinski) Carroll. He grew up in Astoria, NY and attended Iona College in New Rochelle where he played basketball. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In 1960 he joined the New York City Fire Department where he proudly served for 30 years before retiring in 1990.
On May 19, 1984 he married his forever love Marion (Makela) Carroll. They shared many years of love and laughter together. Even through the years of his fight with Alzheimer's Tom adored Marion until his last breath.
Survivors include his wife and their children: William (Kathy) Bright, their children, Matthew, Christopher, and Robert; Michael (Cindy) Bright, their children, Melissa and Kimberly; Daniel (Janet) Bright, their children, John and Ashley; Susan (Peter) Zimmermann, their children, Lauren and Bryan; Thomas Carroll, his children, Molly, Emily, and Melissa; Chris (Lori) Carroll, their children, Cassandra and Lauren; Timothy Carroll; and 3 great grandchildren, Nathan, Marin and Delaney.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept 24 at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main Street, Huron. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, Sept 25th, at the funeral home, with Father Jeffrey McBeth, officiating. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, with military honors and a final alarm bell ceremony by the Northern Ohio Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society (FOOLS).
